Toys

Posted by khing at 08:23 AM on July 8, 2004.

I used to play imaginary war games for hours when I am little. Until one faithful day as I walked from the street returning from school leading to my house, I saw familiar stuffs scattered near the bin outside my house including a few miniature cars. All my toys with exception of the dolls and teddy bears received deportation. It is time for me to start my strict regime of endless tuition. I was around 5-7 yearsâ?? old. It was recently that I came across with the soldiers, I was quite surprised that they still produced the toys at this age. I bought it for less than 2 dollars. Here is my full collection.

Painting

Posted by khing at 10:37 PM on July 8, 2004.

I used to paint. I gave up my brush seven years ago. Since then, my ability to draw deteriorated. I remember the first time I was taught how to draw. It was by father, he taught me how to draw hills, clown and circus. Later at an older age, I remember recreating the drawing of the two hills to my friend, she told me it resembled certain part of the human body.

I used to have an ambition as a cartoonist. The first cartoon I drew was Garfield under the encouragement of my auntie. I start the creation of my own cartoons during my teenage years. I since had lost my creation through passing down of my old text book to my cousins or friends.

Nowadays, I particularly like impressionist painters such as Monet. The nearest I have being to an actual Monet painting was at the art musuem in Edinburgh, Scotland. I was outside and Monet exhibition was inside. The barriers between us, the wall and wrong timing.

Religion

Posted by khing at 10:26 PM on July 9, 2004.

Religion is a big part of my life. I am a church kid, which means that I grew up attending Sunday school, then progressing towards youth meeting before partaking in the Lordâ??s Table meeting. There are some perceptions that church kid are less religious, cause we shows more tendency to adopt religion as just part of our weekly routine rather than pursuing the spiritual enjoyment. I am the 4th generation of church-goers under the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. I believed Watchman Neeâ??s writings are quite well-received. A Finnish friend of mine who was a theology student used to praise his works and more recently, my Nigerian classmates told me that she also enjoyed his works a lot. Embarrassingly, I have to admit that personally I have not read any works done by him. My living room has an excerpt by Watchman Nee. My mum who always shared her spiritual enjoyment with me had kindly read the excerpt to me as I am illiterate in chinese characters. Although I had forgotten the content, I remember vividly the enjoyment I get from the excerpt and hope my fellow readers who are able to read chinese characters had a similar enjoyment that I had.

Love

Posted by khing at 11:16 AM on July 11, 2004.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

I being spending most of my times these few days trying to lend a helping hand to my terminally ill relative who is currently has a relapse of cancer. These few days, I also see a rare sight of true love and total devotion that my uncle has shown towards my auntie. These moments are very sacred and very moving.

Ginger

Posted by khing at 08:27 AM on July 21, 2004.

This is ginger, the cat. He comes to my house everyday for a nap. He reminds me of Hobbes from "Calvin and Hobbes", the comic book. Another ginger that I like is "As told by Ginger" the cartoon. Quote of the day: "I think we dream so we don't have to be apart so long. If we're in each other's dreams, we can play together all night." By Bill Watterson, Calvin&Hobbes.

Soft drinks

Posted by khing at 11:22 AM on July 31, 2004.

Here is my mum's collection of caramel coloured soft drinks. Yep, I have a hip and trendy mum. In many ways, I am probably more conservative compare to her. Anyway, I think one of the more valuable collection is the red bottle at the far left, a 2002 Japan Korea World Cup edition. Among the caramel drink, I like chilled Diet Coke on ice with a pinch of salt. In term of "fear factor" category, I tried before milk with Coke and Coke cooked with Ginger and drank it while it is still warm. Apparently the Ginger with Coke is a good way to cure some kind of illness. I though cannot remember what kind of illness I had that either my belated grandma or mum made it once for me when I was around five or six.

Book Review

Posted by khing at 12:05 PM on July 31, 2004.

I came from a "book-worm family". I am probably least wormish among them cause I am quite selective on the material I read, though I still read a lot more compare to my friends. Like music, book can be grouped into many types, horror, romance, autobiography, etc. I categorised the book in much more simpler term, fiction and non-fiction.

I was introduced to the books by Dan Brown recently by my cousin. I was very intrigued and captivated by his writings. It has been quite a while since I felt this excited, probably the last time was when I read the 1st book of Harry Potter.

Books by Dan Brown:
Digital Fortress (To be reviewed)
Angels and Demons (Highly commended, especially those who being and planning to visit Rome, great and accurate description of the famous landmark and architecture of Rome.)
Deception Point (Alrite, interesting to read about the advancement of technologies)
The Da Vinci Code (Highly commended, if you want to know what is the reason Mona Lisa smiles, this is the book to read)
