Soul Searching: Part One

After losing myself in work then relationship, recently, I went for a much needed break to do some soul searching, although looking back at my trip, it seemed more like food searching as I was the unofficial 'tour guide' for my family.

This will be my 1st attempt to write a photo journal for my trip.  I went to Korea when the Korean just elected a new president, Mr Lee.  Apparently, Mr Lee was the Major of Seoul, ex-Hyundai big shot and succesfully overseeing the restoration of Cheonggyecheon Stream.

First Impression: Part 2

Posted by khing at 08:53 PM on January 3, 2008.

I enjoyed listening to piano recital of First Impression by Edgar Meyer.  A song that I 1st heard on my daily walk across Kensington Park to my college.  It being quite a while since I get to listen to the song again until when I picked a cd of my sis which contained this piano recital.  The song mimicking the slower pace of life, that once does not always have to be on a go, that once a while we can slow down and doing some soul searching.  Basically, that is what I being doing recently and I think I getting some of my old soul back.  Sometime life is not as bleak as is seems, if you look hard enough, there are some wonderful colours to capture and to bright up your life.

My first impression of Korea is winter wonderland, there are things when you combine them together, it can created sparkle, the warm feeling in your heart.  They are great christmas lighting, festive song broadcast along the street and cool weather.  After embracing the coolness, time to warm up and have some rice cake, life is wonderful once again.

Preview of Jay Chou World Tour 2008

Posted by khing at 09:15 AM on January 20, 2008.

Another 1st for me, writing a preview on a concert.  My last event was wayback in 2000 at Manchester Arena, watching ' Savage Garden'.  A last minute impulse to jump on a train from Leeds to Manchester with a bunch of friends, a taste of "live" concert.

 This time round, at personal level, this concert is more 'exciting' Being a fan of Jay, having the most of his song among my "mp3" collections, it is one of my many dreams comes true.  The concert was held at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The concert kicked off with a bang, the crowd went wild with one of Jay's faster song.  Being chinese illiterate, I know is no excuse of me not knowing names to Jay's song.  It went on with performances of some old and new songs, including "An Jing".  Jay also perfomed quite a number of songs from his latest album and piano recital from the movie "Secret".  It is quite funny watching some guys next to me went "gaga" like very excited little girl when Jay making some gesture towards our direction.

Nan Quan Mama was the supporting act, and surprisingly I know their songs.  Other highlights included Jay's grandma making an appearance on stage and numerous of musical instrumental performances by Jay.

To sum it up.  Overall, it was a great show.

Crossing The Line

Posted by khing at 08:30 PM on January 31, 2008.

At some point you have to make a decision;

Boundaries don’t keep other people out;

They fence you in;

Life is messy;

That’s how we’re made.

So you can waste your life drawing line;

Or you can live your life crossing them.

But there are lines that are way too dangerous to cross;

Here’s what I know;

If you willing to take the chance;

The view from the other sight is spectacular.

Mistake

Posted by khing at 08:42 PM on January 31, 2008.

He who hesitates is lost;
We can’t pretend we haven’t been told;
We’ve all heard the proverb;
Heard the philosophers;
Heard our grandparents;

Warning us about wasted life;

          Heard the damn poet urging us to seize the day.
Still, sometimes, we have to see for ourselves.
We have to make our own mistakes;
We have to learn our own lessons;
We have to sweep today’s possibility;
Under tomorrow’s rug until we can’t anymore.

Until we finally understood for ourselves;
That knowing is better than wondering.
That waking is better than sleeping;
That even biggest failure;
Even the worst most intractable mistake;
Beat the hell out of never trying.

Faith

"At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don't really expect it. It’s like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And it’s not so important happy ever after, just that it’s happy right now. See once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you, and once in a while people may even take your breath away."
